Even better!
Brewdog at it again: they were apparently cheated out of an award by drinks giant Diageo, but they have now turned this totally around to what seems to be a PR coup for them and disaster for the big boys.
They had the hashtag #andthewinnerisnot trending worldwide on Twitter ( http://rki.lt/Js6L6s ) and the Diageo entry in Wikipedia has already been updated to include the scandal.
Amazing climb-down by the giants already! The power of social media and being able to spin things.
“We would like to apologise unreservedly to BrewDog and to the British Institute of Innkeeping for this error of judgement and we will be contacting both organisations imminently to express our regret for this unfortunate incident.”
I see our friends at The Drum have reported this story. Wonder if it will make it onto the Scottish telly news.
I love this quote at the end of their article;
"As for Diageo, once you cut through the glam veneer of pseudo corporate responsibility this incident shows them to be a band of dishonest hammerheads and dumb ass corporate freaks. No soul and no morals, with the integrity of a rabid dog and the style of a wart hog."
…
class! You think they would have checked the engraving on the trophy first. I mean you can't rub it out and put another name up there at the last minute!More
Hooray! In the main stream media (although still local "North" section).
Even NewsThump have picked up on the story with this amusing take.
Better late than never!
The story has even been brought up in parliament!
"*S4M-02855 Mark McDonald: And The Winner Is Brewdog, Eventually—That the Parliament condemns Diageo for what it sees as its attempt to deny Fraserburgh-based, BrewDog, the Bar Operator of the Year 2012 prize at the British Institute of Innkeeping ceremony; congratulates BrewDog on its success in becoming what is believed to be the largest … independent brewery in Scotland; notes the opportunities that exist for the company’s growth in UK and international markets; further notes the partnership that BrewDog and Scottish Enterprise have built; celebrates Scottish Enterprise’s success in creating thriving international businesses, particularly through its Overseas Market Support, and congratulates BrewDog on its success in being eventually awarded the Bar Operator of the Year prize.

I haven't listened to this all the way through since a friend nicked my tape back in '92. The full version of the single was only available on tape (for obvious reasons).
I've been trying to find this for ages. I thought I had imagined it, but last time I Googled was a while ago. It seems to have appeared online. Great fun!
Brewdog are marketing geniuses. I don't think I've ever seen an advert for them, but they get enormous amounts of press attention. Their latest attention-grabbing scheme is a "crap beer amnesty" to launch the Manchester bar.
Here's the local view
I love their marketing for this.
I've never listened to Chris Evans' breakfast show on Radio 2 before, but I caught some of it this morning and it had some excellent tunes on it!... including this by the Sparks, who I've never heard of before today.
They are playing Edinburgh 21 October 2012, if you have a spare £100, but tickets are almost sold out.
Great band. One of the finest experimental camp glam pop acts of their era... Surely you've heard This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both If Us?
Think our favourite at Racket Racket is, The Number One Song In Heaven, produced by Giorgio Moroder... Excellent stuff but not worth a tonne to see... unless money was no object!
A HUNNER QUID!? Think I might give it a miss. How about posting some of their other material, Racket Racket?
Here you go sir.
The above is a remix by an enthusiast I see...
Original this time... Weird but good. Bare with it as well, gets better half way through...
@Racket Racket - I love this song & never in a guilty pleasure sort of way! And now it's stuck in my head for the rest of the day :)
Although I prefer this video for sheer awesomeness. The hair! The dry ice! The soft focus!
Just been letting the others at KILTR taste my Scorpion Death Chocolate I picked up at the Paisley Beer Festival. It's laced with hot chilli and the attached video demonstrates quite well the effect it has, even on someone as drunk as the guy in the video.
Paisley Beer Festival ! Is that not a normal night in Paisley all year round ?
Peter, if only it were possible to get such a fantastic range of beers in Paisley all year round! It's Scotland's biggest beer festival.
This is one of the beers shareholders were invited to taste at Brewdog's "Equity for Punks" AGM on Saturday. It's really something very special. I must have had about one-and-a-half bottles of the stuff, which must have been the highlight of an event which was generally excellent.

This is great. I've got some.
Love Williams
indeed it has to be my favourite Scottish brewery.
OK it's time for the second annual KILTR Beer Connoisseur Club trip to the Paisley Beer Festival. Who's up for it?
Jon Snow arguing the case for cyclists. Good guy to have onside.
"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
- Steven Weinberg, Nobel Prize in Physics winner
How is this for a Scottish Beer? Brewdog's latest offering in their artistic Abstrakt series of beers is a Cranachan Imperial Stout.
Nice little video demonstrating simple harmonic motion.
I want an Elephant!!
When is your's been delivery Colin I'm next.
BBC's caught out revealing their inability to exhibit impartiality during the debate.
Just remember when you pay your T.V. licence fee you are paying for the likes of this to be done, no doubt in OUR name.
Good old BBC, British Brainwashing Committee that is!
Yet another item to add to the long, VERY long, and (in)distinguished list of reasons to leave the union.
Someone please screen-capture this before it's changed! "Glasgow grew from a magnificent buckfast tree on the River Clyde..."
I can't as I'm in an internet cafe with limited access.
Done
This is the screengrab you're looking for! Very good
Enjoy Puerto de Santiago! Sounds great although you are of course missing our mini heat wave x
read on.
'Glasgow then became home to a new breed of settler called "the ned". These "neds" have not largely been studied by sociologists but from what they know is that they tend to use shiny tracksuits as uniform, breed as much as possible and favour buckfast wine as nourishment.'
