Recently, @tumshieheid and I were speculating on Detroit electro legend Gerard Donald playing Scotland - which he won't be, as the venue he wanted would have been too large to recoup the costs. Looks like he won't even be playing Britain this year, as the excellent Safe As Milk festival he was booked for bit the dust, due to having too sophisticated a lineup for the great British public.
I can confirm, however that Mr Donald will be playing the excellent Terraforma Festival in Milan, which I feel I should add to the international festival guide provided yesterday by @laurenmcfarland Donald will be playing under his Arpanet guise, alongside some of the finest names in electronic music.
Terraforma is a festival devoted to social progress as much as progressive music, exploring sustainable options for the planet through talks and workshops, all taking place in the idyllic setting of a villa and its environs in Milan. However, for many, the main attraction will be the music, with such luminaries as Andrew Weatherall, mindbending Lebanese DJ and producer Rabih Beaini, German avant-techno legend Rashad Becker, and from Italy, top techno DJ Donato Dozzy, alongside seminal electronic music pioneer, Suzanne Ciani. I've been invited to this, and I'm very tempted to go.
